WW2 was the last of the big "State on State" wars.
Today, with global trade and the threat of nukes, I think countries
have too many reasons not to have a WW2 type war. That's why I
don't think the US will have a big armed conflict with China or
Russia.
What we WILL have is more excursions like the ones I mentioned in my
previous post. And what we have to watch out for is stuff like
Iraq, where we got bogged down after deposing a banana republic-like
dictator. What we need in the future is better planning before the
invasion. We're pretty good at going into a country and bombing and
tearing things up. But it was the aftermath that got us.
