Putin attended the opening ceremonies on 8/8, exited China and then
orchestrated the assault on Georgia the next day...Bush hung out at
the Olympics 3 more days, went back to Washington for one day,
demanded that Putin withdraw from Georgia and then went to Crawford
for vacation.
Timelines are important when discussing an incoherent foreign policy.
